“Leaders create a vision and action a strategy with a meaning and a purpose.”

Leadership is like charisma: rather than learned, it is attributed, i.e., people characterize somebody as being a leader. Why is that? Metaphorically speaking, leaders embrace two sides of a coin. Rather than being fixed to a specific personality style, leaders tune in with empathy into a given situation and model different behaviors and attitudes to suit particular requirements that are needed with authenticity. They are in full control of their emotional state, entirely aware in the moment right now, and continuously perceive and process emotional as well as logical information from their environment. That way, leaders empower and raise productivity levels in organizations and teams.

Leaders can build rapport in no time. Leaders listen actively and talk convincingly. Leaders entertain and advise. They combine analytical complexity with emotional intelligence. Leaders frame a vision and drive necessary change, and communicate with focus, clarity, ease, and comfort. Being a leader is an attitude rather than a skill or capability. Leadership Development is about fine-tuning and sharpening these gifts individually. Imagine how inspiring and motivating it would be to work together with that kind of person.

“Lack of engagement is among the most limiting factors of productivity.”

Today, many organizations observe their workforce being largely disengaged. Leaders with strength in emotional intelligence can influence with integrity and foster engagement of their teams that way. Mainly the relationship management competencies play a significant role as the human connection is critical. Also, awareness and management of limiting beliefs and fear of failure being the most prominent road blockers to success help to create an environment of trust and credibility. It is a fact, the more an employee is empowered to cope with his limiting beliefs and fears proactively the more he or she is willing to engage not only in day-to-day business but also into change to accommodate the requirements of a dynamic and fast-changing business world.

Why is that? Unconsciously and emotionally triggered behaviors and responses in day-to-day collaboration might not be inclusive and could turn into productivity blockers. There is usually no awareness of such kind of practice, and well-meant feedback is not recognized as such. Limiting beliefs determine what we believe we can do and not do. Unspoken rules and observation of team dynamics and interaction with management make us behave in a way to avoid failure, and fear of failure usually is what prevents employees to outperform. A “rewiring” as it is often called need to take place to respond more adequately. Imagine how it would be like if team members react to their working environment such that they are perceived as trustful and credible? That their actions and behaviors are sourced from more self-confidence and self-esteem? Without thinking too much about what is possible or not possible it is a fact that that kind of environment demonstrates more employee engagement.

“The salesperson of the 21st century is a co-creator with sound capabilities and skills.”

Salespeople today need to act more and more like consultants who co-create solutions with their customers. A key element is the need to become active listeners and to excel on internal and external sales with fantastic speaking and presentation skills delivering sound solutions in a credible and trustworthy way. As William Ury, a renowned negotiation expert said: “There is a good reason why the human being has two ears to listen and one mouth to speak.” The capability to truly listen of what is said is vital to understand people the right way and to identify what has not been said but expressed non-verbally. These are the capabilities why certain salespeople are on top of the customers’ mind when it comes to problem-solving and future shaping. This is true relationship management.
