Within the human system, the energy flows along 72,000 pathways called nadis. At the joints, the nadis form energy nodes, making the joints into storehouses of energy. Upa-Yoga activates this energy and also lubricates the joints, creating an instant sense of alertness and liveliness. It rejuvenates the body after a period of inactivity.

Upa-Yoga has numerous benefits:

Everybody perceives reality differently and is more or less surprised by how other people perceive the same reality. Lack of awareness of this fact is very often the trigger for misunderstanding and conflict in many day-to-day situations.

The way we perceive the world through our five senses, how we filter and internally represent the information (map of the world) and the way we respond is of utmost importance if Command and Communicate shall work effortlessly and with convenience and ease. The good news is, we can consciously change how we perceive the world if being aware of the fundamental mechanisms of perception, i.e., enhancing our perception, and how to change it.

The critical access to perception is via Neurological Levels. Guidance towards systematical reflection on specific situations and relationships to the Neurological Levels like the environment we are working in, our behaviors in that environment, our capabilities, our values and beliefs, our identity, and understanding of our purpose in life do more than determining how we act and behave. Grappling with the Neurological Levels help to identify measures of positive and lasting change, and the benefit is like a game-changer and can affect our personality positively.

Imagine, what would it be like if you become aware of how the unconscious mind influences your perception? What kind of a difference does this make to you in considering alternative behaviors?

Among the seven universal emotions, anxieties and fear are the strongest blocking points in personal development. Usually, anxieties strongly connect with limiting beliefs of the form “I believe, I can’t do …”. This kind of belief determines our actions and behaviors unconsciously. Making it conscious opens a new dimension of possibilities regarding productivity at the workplace and in dealing with any kind of worrying situations conveniently.

The identification of limiting beliefs in daily situations and how to overcome limiting beliefs is a crucial element for the success and development of potential. Imagine, a limiting belief is “I believe I can’t do public speaking.” What would it be like to overcome this limiting belief?

Fear is not a disease. We create the physiological, psychological, and emotional state of being anxious when we behave in an apprehensive manner, such as being worried, fretful, and/or concerned. Worry is an example of apprehensive behavior because we allow our mind to dwell on difficulty or troubles. Worry is imagining the future in its worst-case terms. In other words, imagining that a future situation or circumstance has the potential to cause us, or someone or something we care about, harm.

Reading people, we need to listen to them. The art of communication very much relies on the fact that listening is much more important than talking. Active listening helps to focus on what is said and signals the other person an attentive attitude. Further elements like parrot-like phrasing and Clean Language guide a conversation naturally and effortlessly as that kind of language helps the other person to explore thoughts and ideas. Clean Language turned out to be a potent instrument in communication and rapport building.

A University of Nijmegen study found that the waitress increased her tips by 70%. They merely repeated the customer‘s order back to them, rather than saying “okay” or “coming right up.” This repeating like a parrot helps to build rapport and trust and indicates a real listening attitude to the other person. It works because they hear coming to their words from you they assume that you are thinking like them – that you are like them. Moreover, when people think you are like them, they instantly start to trust and build rapport. Our human systems are constructed to develop a rapport with people we feel are like us.

Clean Language patterns help to explore what the other person’s map of the world is.

The approach based on Clean Language, which was devised by the late David Grove, a renowned psychologist. David Grove designed his Clean Language questions for exploring the metaphors which underpin somebody’s thoughts, constructing a bridge between the everyday, rational, and conscious mind. However, the same questions can be valuable in a wide range of other contexts. By putting full attention on a customer’s inner world, i.e., his metaphors, and by asking him questions which encourage him to do the same, you open up space for the other person to do some of his best-ever thinking.

Imagine a person walking with a dog in a park. What kind of person is that person? What kind of dog is that dog? What is the relationship between the dog and the person? If you ask two different people these same questions, do you expect the same answers?

Storytelling is an essential element in keynote speeches, presentations, or sales conversations because it helps us to communicate with a compelling narrative, with a vision and a purpose. This holds true for doing pitches as well. In general, it is a vital capability as it helps to connect with the audience during public speaking or to tell our friends a story in an entertaining way.

A widely known metaphor for the conscious and unconscious mind is the iceberg. While the part above the surface reflects the conscious mind, the much more prominent part below the surface reflects the unconscious mind. That way, metaphors help people to imagine a particular way of thinking and perception about complex matters.

The reason why metaphors are so powerful is, metaphors help to get and to maintain attention, build an appropriate relationship with people, enables the other person to perceive the relevance of what is shared with him, pitch the communication in a way that relates to the other person’s map of the world and his reality. This is, learn to use a story where the themes and ideas expand during the presentation or conversation.

Conscious and unconscious mind rules our behavior, and their influence is very different: while the conscious mind is about 5%, 95% attributes to the unconscious mind. The unconscious mind very much influences our personality and ego. The conscious mind is in charge of logic and rational thinking.

Now, personality refers to individual differences in characteristic patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving. Thus, the basis of perception is projection. Becoming aware of these facts help a lot to understand our behaviors better and helps to turn feedback into many more positive behaviors and attitudes.

“The mind is an embodied and relational process that regulates the flow of energy and information.”

This is a widely accepted definition of what the mind is. We know from physics, energy is the capacity to move things, that is work. Information is data and facts. Information is the resolution of uncertainty, e.g., when the quantum field which is uncertain becomes factual, this is information. The consciousness processes a meaning.

So, what is the unconscious mind doing?

The unconscious mind runs the body. It has a blueprint of body now and its relation to perfect health. It preserves the body and maintains the integrity of the body. It generates, stores, distributes, and transmits “energy.”

Regarding memory, the unconscious mind stores memories temporal and a-temporal. It organizes all our memories and represses memories with unresolved negative emotions. It presents repressed memories for resolution (to make rational and to release emotions).

Regarding habits, the unconscious mind maintains instincts and generates habits. It needs repetition until a habit installs. Now, you know why it takes approximately 6 weeks to make a new behavior a habit.

Regarding mental processes, the unconscious mind controls and maintains all perceptions. It receives and transmits perceptions to the conscious mind. It is symbolic as it uses and responds to symbols.

The unconscious mind is the domain of emotions. It may keep repressed emotions repressed for protection or do not process negatives.

Regarding attitudes, the unconscious mind enjoys serving but needs explicit orders to follow. It seeks more and more and operates like to discover continually. It does not need parts to function, and it takes everything personally. The unconscious mind works on the principle of least effort and follows the path of least resistance.

You wouldn’t disagree with the fact the unconscious mind is doing a lot for us, would you? What would it be like if you become more aware of your emotions? How would that affect your thinking, your actions, and your behaviors?

Rapport Building is an essential element in professional relationship creation. Rapport is a dance of mutual responsiveness. It is the ability to relate to others in a way that creates a climate of trust and understanding. The purpose of rapport is to establish a feeling of comfort and commonality between people. Rapport provides the capability to see each other’s point of view, to be on the same wavelength, and be able to appreciate other people’s feelings and perspectives. Rapport develops from responding to someone utilizing the power of words (7%), voice tone (38%) and physiology (55%). This means, 93% is non-verbal. Purposeful rapport building demonstrates the high art of communication.

The reason is, communication distinguishes between visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and audio-digital preferences. These preferences express themselves in the way a person is speaking, e.g., While “I can see what you mean” rather clearly indicates a person with a visual preference, a person saying “I can hear what you say” reveals more of an auditory preference. Knowing this preference in a conversation helps a lot to build rapport.

Watching eye patterns during a conversation is also meaningful because eye patterns reveal mental processes non-verbally. For example, after some calibration, one can identify if the other person is recalling information or rather constructing a piece of information when answering a question.
